our story
Village Creek Landing is a private peninsula surrounded by tidal creeks and marsh. The peninsula looks over the beautiful Marshes of Glynn and to Sea Island, Little Saint Simons Island and Saint Simons Island. Located at the end of South Harrington Road off of Frederica Road in the middle of Saint Simons Island, the peninsula was once the site of Cusie's Fish Camp.
Village Creek Landing is perfect for weddings, rehearsal dinners, family reunions, fundraisers, private parties, and corporate events.
Village Creek Landing is also an active outpost for Southeast Adventure Outfitters, offering a variety of boating activities including kayaking, kayak fishing, fishing charters, birding and nature tours, sunset cruises, kayaking and boating instruction. If the tide is right, clients may also plan a wedding departure or even a sunset cruise during an event. Contact Southeast Adventure Outfitters for more information.
Family Business
The Gowen/McQuigg Family purchased Village Creek Landing in 2018 from the Berolzheimer Family. Since 2009, Michael Gowen of Southeast Adventure Outfitters co-leased the property along with Halyard’s Catering followed by Straton Hall Events. Halyard’s Catering and Straton Hall Events were the sole caterers for the venue. After purchasing the property, the family decided to open up the vendors list to include locally licensed caterers.
The family has done major renovations to Village Creek Landing! The interior room of the venue has been updated using wood from their Satilla River property that was blown down in a tornado. The wood was salvaged and milled to repurpose the trees for flooring, beams, bars, benches and restrooms. All of the wood is Satilla River Pine and Oak.
Dr. Jim Gowen, a recently retired local OB-GYN, is the the master craftsman for many of the projects on site. He personally built all of the pine benches for you to use for your ceremony!
The upper deck of the building was extended so it wraps around the building, offering stunning views over the marsh. This past summer the roof was extended over the deck.
Village Creek Landing is truly a family run business. Each family member has an important role in operating the business.
